ABSTRACT

Objective@#To investigate the changes of school absenteeism among students received Nutrition Improvement Program for Rural Compulsory Education Student (NIPCES), and to provide basic data for further nutritional health improvement for rural students.@*Methods@#Among 699 NIPCES monitored counties among 22 provinces across western and central China, 10%-30% of elementary and junior high schools were randomly selected as monitoring schools within each stratification according to the food supply pattern (school canteen, company and mix) in each county, school absenteeism information were collected and analyzed from 2012 to 2017.@*Results@#The total rate of student absenteeism was 26.0 per 10 000. From 2012 to 2016, it dropped from 30.8 per 10 000 to 23.4 per 10 000 year by year, but it increased again in 2017(28.2 per 10 000). The rate of school absenteeism in the western region (29.4 per 10 000) was higher than that in the central region (21.5 per 10 000); The sick leave rate (15.0 per 10 000) of primary school students was higher than that of junior high school students (13.4 per 10 000), and the rate of personal leave absences (16.9 per 10 000) of junior high school students was higher than that of elementary school students(9.9 per 10 000); the absentees rate in mixed-food supply schools (28.5 per 10 000) was higher than that in canteen food supply schools(26.4 per 10 000), the latter was higher than that of company food supply schools(25.0 per 10 000). The rate of sick leave absenteeism was highest in December(18.4 per 10 000), and the rate of personal leave absenteeism in June was highest(14.6 per 10 000).@*Conclusion@#The rate of school absenteeism among students in the NIPCES area showed an overall downward trend year by year. The absentee rate of students varies by regions, grade, food supply patterns and school locations.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#To analyze the usage of catering software and the creation of recipes by schools, as part of the Nutrition Improvement Program for Rural Compulsory Education Students (NIPRCES) 2013-2017.@*Methods@#In each county of the 699 trial counties across 22 provinces in central and western area of China under the NNIPRCES, no less than 10% of primary and junior middle schools were randomly selected according to their catering mode (i.e., school feeding, food packages, and family feeding). School questionnaires were used to collect information concerning the schools and the creation of recipes.@*Results@#From 2013 to 2017, the utilization rate of catering software was 11.7%, 8.0%, 17.8%, 16.9%, and 14.0%, respectively with significant differences(χ 2=345.09,P<0.01). The creators of school-meal recipes included schools, the Education Bureau, hospitals and colleges, the centers of disease prevention and control. Differences were observed in the proportion of recipe creators across school type, area, and catering mode, while annual trends also varied (P<0.01), as indicated by the following proportions: 74.9%, 20.0%, 3.7%, 1.3%, respectively. Food safety was identified as the main factor that needs to be considered when creating school recipes, the proportions of which were 58.0%, 78.4%, 70.6%, and 87.4% from 2014 to 2017.@*Conclusion@#From 2013 to 2017, the utilization rate and the frequency of catering software were both relatively low, and recipe creation was in need of professional guidance. It is necessary to strengthen the popularization of catering software and improve the nutritional knowledge and skills of canteen workers to ensure the quality of school meals.

Objective@#To discuss the impact and practicability of pluralistic management when puerpera with hepatitis B virus (HBV) in hospital.@*Methods@#By review researching and convenient sampling, two groups of puerpera with HBV were studied comparatively by the index of the time of breast milk, the breastfeeding rate and the satisfaction rate in hospital.The control group (411 cases, January to December, 2017) carried on the normal regulations nursing and the observation group (411 cases, January to October, 2018) carried on the pluralistic management in the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department of the Fifth Medical Center of PLA General Hospital.@*Results@#The rate of the starting time of milk secretion (<24, 24-48, 49-72, >72 h) was 29.4%(121/411), 36.0%(148/411), 24.6%(101/411), 1.0%(41/411) in the observation group, and 13.6%(56/411), 21.7%(89/411), 33.3%(137/411), 31.4%(129/411) in the control group. The differences between the two groups were significant (χ2 value was 7.66-57.43, all P<0.01). Postpartum hospital stay in 3 days and 6 days, the breastfeeding rate and average rate was 90.4%(198/219), 95.3%(183/192), 92.7%(381/411) in the observation group, and 79.0%(180/228), 84.2%(154/183), 81.3%(334/411) in the control group, the differences between the two groups were significant (χ2 value was 11.13, 12.7, 23.61, all P<0.01). The total satisfaction rate in hospital was 99.5%(409/411) in the observation group, and 91.2%(375/411) in the control group, the difference between the two groups was significant (χ2 value was 31.93, P<0.01).@*Conclusions@#Pluralistic management can raise the rate of breastfeeding of puerpera with HBV and the satisfaction of puerpera with HBV and her family.

ABSTRACT

The development of bone tissue engineering puts forward higher requirements for scaffold materials. Based on the theory of complete regeneration in regenerative medicine, bone graft substitutes are required to be osteoinducible, and to be degraded by osteoclasts and replaced with new bone tissue. Absorbable scaffold materials can be degraded by osteoclasts, and their physical and chemical properties also affect the behavior of osteoclasts. The surface microstructure of the materials is the key to initiating osteoinduction, and it has an important influence on the behavior of osteoclasts. In addition, the surface roughness of the materials can enhance the functional activity of osteoclasts within a certain range. In this paper, the research progress in material surface microstructure regulating osteoclastic cells were reviewed, in order to further explore its mechanism of action, and provide a reference for the preparation of better performance tissue engineering scaffold materials.

ABSTRACT

Objective To study the clinical efficacy and safety of endoscopic papillary large balloon dilation (EPLBD) in the treatment of common bile duct (CBD) stones.Methods This retrospective study of EPLBD for CBD stoneswas conducted between May 2015 and March 2017 on 116 patients.The patients were divided into two groups based on the different methods of treatment:group A (the EPLBD group) and B(the EST + EPBD group).Results Treatment with EPLBD when compared with EST + EPBD produced similar outcomes with regard to the overall stone removal rates (96.2% vs.93.5%,P > 0.05) and complete ductal clearance in one session (92.6% vs.92%,P >0.05).There were no significant differences in the rates of overall complication (22.2% vs.22.2%,P > 0.05),hemorrhage (7.4% vs.11.3%,P > 0.05),post-ERCP pancreatitis (9.3% vs.6.6%,P > 0.05) and acute cholangitis (5.6% vs.8.1%,P >0.05).When compared with EST + EPBD,mechanical lithotripsy was performed less in the EPLBD group (16.6% vs.27.4t%,p < 0.05).Conclusions EPLBD was an effective and safe method to treat CBD stones.EPLBD reduced the use of mechanical lithotripsy when compared with EST + EPBD.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the value of three-dimensional DSA (3D-DSA) in displaying the location of the origin of uterine artery.Methods A total of 90 female patients underwent uterine artery (UA) embolization were enrolled.The bilateral internal iliac artery catheterization were performed by 3D-DSA,then the images were reconstructed in every 5 degree interval to choose the optimum range of viewing angle.The origination and the degree of the origin artery and UA were calculated.The distance between the origin of UA and superior glutea artery which was identified as the locating point was measured.Results Bilateral and contralateral oblique position of >30°-60°were the optimal projection positions of UA.Totally 64.44% (116/180) of UA originated from the anterior trunk of internal iliac artery,18.33% (33/180) originated from the inferior gluteal trunk,9.44 % (17 / 180) originated from the internal pundenal artery,5.56 % (10 / 180) originated from internal iliac artery,and 2.22% (4/180) originated from the superior gluteal artery;10.56% (19/180) of the angle of the origin artery and UA were 0-30°,38.89% (70/180) were >30°-60°,41.11% (74/180) were >60°-90°,4.44% (8/180) were>90°-120°,2.78% (5/180) were>120°-150°,2.22% (4/180) were>150°-180°.Distance between the origin of UA and superior gluteal artery was 3.04-18.31 mm,average was (11.71±4.28)mm.Conclusion 3D-DSA can clearly display the origination,viewing angle and the distance away from superior gluteal artery.

ABSTRACT

Objective The effectiveness of Zhuang nationality medical lotus needle plus back cupping therapy ( Zhuang needle-cupping therapy) , Flixonase aqueous nasal spray and cetirizine tablets in treating allergic rhinitis (AR) was compared for the exploration of the therapeutic mechanism of Zhuang needle-cupping therapy. Methods A total of 200 recruited AR patients were randomly divided into four groups in the proportion of 1:1:1:1. The four groups were Zhuang needle-cupping therapy group, cetirizine group, Flixonase group and blank control group. The blank control group had no medication, and the patients of the other three medication groups were given the corresponding treatment. Ten days constituted one treatment course, and interval between two courses lasted one week. After two courses, the therapeutic effect was evaluated. The changes of specific IgE (S-IgE), leukotriene (LT), interleukin 4(IL-4), IL-9 mRNA, interferon gamma (IFN-γ), Thl / Th2 cells, and Th17 cytokine ( IL-17) were observed before and after treatment. Results ( 1) After two treatment courses, Zhuang needle-cupping therapy group had better therapeutic effect than cetirizine group , Flixonase group and blank control group, and the therapeutic effect of cetirizine group and Flixonase group was better than the blank control group (P0.05). ( 2) After treatment, the levels of S-IgE, LT, IL-9 mRNA, IL-4 and IL-17 were decreased, and IFN-γ and Th1/Th2 levels were increased in the three medication groups ( P0.05). The results of inter-group comparison after treatment showed that Zhuang needle-cupping therapy group had better effect on improving S-IgE, LT, IFN-γand Th1/Th2 than cetirizine group and Flixonase group (P<0.05). (3) During the trial, no adverse reaction was found. Conclusion Zhuang needle-cupping therapy exerts certain therapeutic effect for AR, and the mechanism may be related with the inhibition of S-IgE, LT, IL-9 mRNA and IL-17 expression, and with the regulation of Th1/Th2 imbalance by decreasing TH2 cytokine level and increasing Th1 cytokine level.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the expressions of fatty acid-binding protein 5 (FABP5)and dihydroli-poamide dehydrogenase(DLD)in skin lesions of symmetrical acrokeratoderma(SAK), and to explore their significance. Methods Biopsy specimens were obtained from skin lesions on the wrists and perilesional skin of 9 patients with SAK, and from normal skin in the wrists of 9 healthy volunteers (control group). Reverse transcription PCR (RT-PCR)and immunohistochemical staining were performed to measure the expressions of FABP5 and DLD in these specimens. Results RT-PCR showed no significant differences in the mRNA expressions of FABP5 or DLD between lesional, perilesional and normal control skin specimens(both P > 0.05). Immunohistochemically, there was a significant increase in the extent and intensity of staining for FABP5 in SAK lesions. Concretely speaking, FABP5 was strongly expressed in the stratum corneum, granular and spinous layers in SAK lesions, but weakly expressed in the stratum corneum, granular and spinous layers in perilesional skin, and only in spinous and basal layers in normal control skin. The expression of DLD decreased in SAK lesions, and was observed only in the stratum corneum and spinous layer in a few cases of SAK. However, the full-thickness epidermis stained positive for DLD in perilesional skin, with the nuclei and cytoplasm both stained deep brown. Conclusion The overexpression of FABP5 in SAK lesions may participate in dysdifferentiation of keratinocytes, while the down-regulation of DLD expression suggests an imbalance in energy metabolism.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the existence of genetic divergence of sympatric populations of Anopheles sinensis of different feeding preferences based on the rDNA-ITS2 sequence differences. Methods A large number of wild anopheles popu-lations were trapped all night by man-baited net and calf-baited net that had been set up between high-density natural villages of An. sinensis populations and vector-breeding sites,from which two groups of An. sinensis were separated by morphological iden-tification and brought back to the lab for conventional breeding. A large closed greenhouse which temperature and humidity was appropriate was selected as research settings of mark-release-recapture methods by female mosquitoes ,in the center of which above An. sinensis populations baited by man and calf and respectively correspondingly marked by red and yellow phosphors were released in together,in each side of which An. sinensis were recaptured simultaneously by man-baited net and calf-baited net. An. sinensis populations trapped by man twice were brought back to the lab and bred with man-blood,correspondingly ones trapped by calf with calf-blood. Man-preferring and calf-preferring strains were screened respectively from An. sinensis which had been baited by man and calf by the mark-release-recapture methods after parent and F1 mosquitoes,and sequencing and aligning of both rDNA-ITS2 were conducted via PCR amplification. Results The recapture ratios of wild parental mosquitoes An. sinensis of man-preferring group by man-baited net and calf-baited net were 54.07%(339/627)and 45.93%(288/627)re-spectively,and ones of calf-preferring group by man-baited net and calf-baited net were 58.01%(409/705)and 41.99%(296/705)respectively. Two groups of parental mosquitoes trended towards selecting the original blood hosts in host-seeking prefer-ence(χ2=19.42,P<0.01). The recapture ratios of F1 mosquitoes An. sinensis of man-preferring group by man-baited net and calf-baited net were 63.43%(765/1 206)and 36.57%(441/1 206),and ones of calf-preferring group by man-baited net and calf-baited net were 68.22%(1 039/1 523)and 31.78%(484/1 523). Two groups of F1 mosquitoes had more significant characteris-tics of selecting the original blood hosts in host-seeking preference(χ2=271.69,P<0.01)and showed the genetic differentia-tion phenomenon,but the results of sequencing and aligning of the rDNA-ITS2 via PCR amplification showed no difference in base sequence between the two strains and both were 469 bp. Conclusions The genetic divergence based on the rDNA-ITS2 se-quence does not happen in An. sinensis sympatric populations of different feeding preferences.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the influence of prepubertal exposure to estradiol benzoate (EB)in the male reproductive system of the rats and the natural process of tissue repair,and to clarify the possible mechanism of the reproductive toxicity of exogenous estrogen.Methods Ninety 2 1-day-old male Wistar rats were randomly divided into 2 experimental groups (low dose of EB group and high dose of EB group,n=30)and control group (n=30). The rats in the experimental groups were injected with EB dissolved in peanut oil at 15(low dose of EB group)and 15 000μg·kg-1 (high dose of EB group)respectively,the rats in control group received equal vehicle injection only,once every other day for two weeks from postnatal day(PND)21 to 34.All of them were normally fed after the drug usage was stopped.The testes were harvested at the stages of PND 60 and PND 125(n=15 at each stage).The serum levels testosterone of (T),follicle-stimulating hormone(FSH),luteinizing hormone(LH),prolactin (PRL)and estradiol(E2)of the rats in various groups were detected with radioimmunology method and the weights of the rats in various groups were recorded;the histological changes of the testes tissue were observed with light microscope.Results On PND60,compared with control group,the T levels in low dose of EB group and high dose of EB group were decreased(P0.05);the weights of testes were decreased(P0.05 ), and the weight of testes was decreased (P0.05),and the weight of testes was decreased(P<0.01);there was still no sperm in high dose of EB group, the number of sperms was increased in low dose of EB group, but it was still lower than that in control group.Conclusion EB is harmful to the reproductive system and can change the normal serum sex hormone levels,even induces the irreversible injury.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the effects of epidural spinal cord electrical stimulation (ESCES) on spinal cord reflexes in normal adult rats, and to find out where and how the spinal cord reflexes are generated. Methods Ten adult female Sprague Dawley rats were anaesthetized and an electrode was placed at the S, spinal cord segment. Single electric pulses with 200 μs pulse width and voltages of 400 mV, 600 mV and 1200 mV were used in the ESCES. 1200 mV voltages with 50 Hz, 60 Hz, 80 Hz, 100 Hz frequency were also tested. EMG signals were re-corded with concentric needle electrodes in the rats' semitendinosus muscles to observe the characteristics of spinal cord reflexes. Results The voltage threshold for generating semitendinosus muscle response was 300 mV. The three ESCES voltages induced 2 kinds of spinal cord reflexes. The 400 mV and 600 mV stimulation induced spinal cord reflexes with short latency (5.27±0.36 ms and 5.19±0.67 ms respectively). The 1200 mV stimulation volt-age induced spinal cord reflexes with long latency (2.57±0.23 ms). Spinal cord reflexes could be generated by 50 Hz, 60 Hz, 80 Hz, and 100 Hz ESCES. At the higher frequencies, spinal cord reflexes declined late in the ex-periments and then appeared irregular. In some of the rats, spinal cord reflexes vanished entirely late in the stimula-tion experiments. The latency and duration of the spinal cord reflexes induced by 50 Hz ESCES were (4.46 ± 1.07) ms and (7.33±1.00)ms respectively. These were significantly different from the latency and duration initia-ted by 60 Hz, 80 Hz or 100 Hz ESCES. Conclusions Different ESCES voltages induce different spinal cord refle-xes generated differently. The long latency reflexes might be monosynaptic responses mediated by dorsal root excite-ment, while the short latency reflexes might be sarcous exciting electric activity mediated by direct excitement of mo-tor neurons or motor fibers. The irregular spinal cord reflexes induced by higher frequency ESCES might be one kind of monosynaptic response. Irregularly appearing spinal cord reflexes induced by higher frequency stimulation might due to the inhibitory effect of higher frequency stimulation.

ABSTRACT

The frequency-domain magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) is achieved by the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) of the time-domain signals. Usually we are only interested in the portion lying in a frequency band of the whole spectrum. A method based on the singular value decomposition (SVD) and frequency-selection is presented in this article. The method quantifies the spectrum lying in the interested frequency band and reduces the interference of the parts lying out of the band in a computationally efficient way. Comparative experiments with the standard time-domain SVD method indicate that the method introduced in this article is accurate and timesaving in practical situations.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To investigate the effects of epidural spinal cord stimulation (ESCS) and treadmill training on the locomotion function and ultrastructure of spinal cord anterior horn after moderate spinal cord injury in rats. (IT, n=3). All rats received a moderate spinal cord injury surgery. Four weeks after surgery, rats in SE group received an electrode implantation procedure, with the electrode field covering spinal cord segments L2-S1. Four weeks after electrode implantation, rats received subthreshold ESCS for 30 min/d. Rats in TY group received 4cm/s treadmill training for 30min/d. Rats in SI group received no intervention, as a control group. All procedures in these three groups lasted four weeks.The open field Basso,Beattie and Bresnahan (BBB) scale was used before and after intervention to evaluate rats' hindlimb motor function. Result:After four weeks intervention, rats in TT group improved their open field locomotion scores to 20. In contrast, no significant improvement was observed in groups SI and SE. The morphology of synapses and neurons were similar regardless of whether rats had undergone ESCS, treadmill training or not. Conclusion:ESCS alone was not sufficient to improve the walking ability of spinal cord injured rats. ESCS or treadmill training alone might not contribute to the changes of ultrastructure in anterior horn of spinal cord that underlie the recovery of walking ability. Further research is needed to understand the contributions of combination of ESCS and treadmill training to the rehabilitation of spinal cord injured rats.

ABSTRACT

Objectives:To observe the effect of rhGH in the treatment of chronic wasting diseases. Methods:Twenty two cases of chronic wasting diseases needing nutrition support were chosen,including 10 cases of COPD,12 cases of cerebral infarction or cerebral hemorrhage with decubital ulcer in recovery phase.They were in the age of 60~75,in combination with morderate malnutrition.These patients were divided into control group and experimental group.In the experimental group,rhGH(4.5 U/d) was given hypodermically for 10 days.Serum albumin,prealbumin,transferin,24 h urea nitrogen in urine,the surface area of decubital ulcer and mental state were monitored before and after the treatment. Results:In the experimental group,many nutritional indices were increased markedly,24 h urea nitrogen excretion was decreased,the healing of decubitus was faster and mental state was better when compared with control group. Conclusions:The rhGH plays an important role in improving the nutritional status and mental state in patients with chronic wasting diseases. On the base of supplying enough nutrients, rhGH can promote anabolism,reduce the excretion of urea nitrogen in urine, accelerate the healing of decubital ulcer and improve the prognosis.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To investigate the treatment effect of rational enteral nutrition in stress ulcer bleeding after severe brain injuries.Methods: 30 cases with severe brain injuries accompanied with stress ulcer bleeding were supported by enteral nutrition as clinical treatment group.50 cases with the same conditions were managed with traditional treatment methods as control.Results: All patients in clinical treatment group had no stress ulcer bleeding any more. The nutritional state was improved. On the other hand,the stress ulcer bleeding occurred again and again and the nutritional state was poor.Conclusion: Rational enteral nutrition can treat upper gastrointestinal stress ulcer bleeding in severe brain injuries effectively.
